BIOGRAPHY

A graduate of Saint Mary’s University (BA), the University of New Brunswick (LLB), and the University of Edinburgh (LLM, PhD), Shawn has won numerous academic awards and clerked for the Federal Court of Canada. A member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society for over 30 years, Shawn has practiced in insurance defence throughout his career, arguing cases at multiple levels and representing clients across Atlantic Canada. A passionate and practical advocate, Shawn has litigated complex and technical cases, and handled novel issues in casualty, sports and entertainment, professional liability, construction, contract, product liability law and more. In his spare time, Shawn enjoys cycling, hiking, playing soccer, reading science fiction, and encouraging his children to be more active.
